💜💜💜 On August 1st of this year [2023] during my vacay in Minneapolis, I treated myself to the VIP Tour of Paisley Park… a complex that snuck up on me en-route during a convo I was enjoying with my Eden Prairie-based SW Prime driver along Highway 5 – part of the 7-mile Chanhassen stretch which MN Governor Tim Walz signed into law as the now renamed Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway. The white-on-purple freeway signage went up 2 days later, on August 3rd.
I have so many mystically wonderful memories of my short time at Paisley Park on the first Super Moon day of August 2023! But one in particular that stands out for me today (October 29th) came before the actual tour itself. I was roaming the grounds and began musing about the second building at Paisley Park that wasn’t to be a part of our tour, according to the guide I asked.
The Egg (as the building is known from it’s oval structure) seemed to have a unique and powerful, albeit inaccessible yin presence that was somehow shared by the weeping willow/widow trees on the far perimeter behind it. I carried these musings with me while strolling in the opposite direction where I peered out through the property’s chain-link fence. There, on the asphalt path that runs parallel to the now renamed stretch of freeway, the following message was written in giant, cursive, sky-blue paint:
” Daddy Never Left Ya “
These words and the laughter of pet doves (during our VIP Tour of Prince’s creative nest) today guide me to a sense of comfort, courage, and clarity about certain yang presences along my larger path to self-healing.
10/29 was the publisher’s posthumous release date in 2019 of the Purply1‘s biography entitled The Beautiful Ones, which I purchased in the Paisley Park gift shop on the way out, along with a mug for my daily dose of hot tea. October 29th is also the date “Daddy” – my beloved father (who actually began his university studies at a campus in the Twin Cities) – transitioned in 1993. As a daughter, sister, aunty, and mother, I give thanks for the ways in which soul fam come thru… straight from the ancestral fire to become the warm folds of our everyday… awakening us to their presence, to our unity-consciousness, and to our collective custodianship of UbuNtu [‘I Am, Because We Are…’] – for the express purpose of our spiritual Being and Becoming the Be.You.tiful Ones… As our ancient God/dess wisdom instructs: “Know.Thy.Self.”
